Fact verses fiction, clearly the root cause of many challenges and
disputes. A disparity or point of contention quite frequently is the
result of a misunderstanding of the truth, and occasionally the result
of an intentional misrepresentation of the truth. Regardless of the
cause of conflict the end results are the same—emotional stress and
sometimes-financial loss.
SAF Consulting International provides expertise for lawsuits that evolve
from issues in two categories: Third party crimes and Torts involving
alleged negligence either committed or omitted. Our forensic consultant
makes an assessment of all the known facts surrounding an incident in
question and forms an opinion as to the adequacy or inadequacy of
actions taken by the parties involved. Advocacy is the role of the
attorney, not for the professional consultant whose role is to
objectively review the facts and render an opinion no matter who
retained his or her services.
The truth is not clearly evident in many challenges and disputes. A
disparity or point of contention is frequently the result of
misunderstanding of the truth, and occasionally the result of
intentional misrepresentation. Your role as an attorney is to represent
your client to the best of your ability.
SAF's role is to provide the facts to the attorney to the best of our
ability. Our previous law firm clients tell us we do this very
well, whether it be for the defendant or the plaintiff. We assign only
our most knowledgeable forensic consultant to the case, who specializes
in that area from which the case is based and with specific experience
in the issue being litigated.
The process begins when you contact our office. We will 'overnight' our
consultant's curriculum vitae and fee schedule with a Documents Request
Form to your office. Should you choose to utilize our consultant, we
suggest you make copies of the documents listed in the Documents Request
Form that are available in your file and return them to us with the
retainer (which is applied to the first 10 hours of our consultant's
work). Normally, the process ends after we provide our recommendations,
written report (as applicable to Rule 26, A&B) or expert testimony at
trial.
What
type of consultant can you expect to work with you on your case? To
answer the question, we provide the following as an example: In cases
involving police operations and procedures, it is most common to come
across a forensic consultant specializing in police operations who is a
20-year retired law enforcement officer and was certified and sworn
after graduation from his/her local police academy.
Our principal consultant, who specializes in police operations,
completed two state police academies, and one federal police academy
with honors, and was sworn and certified following graduation from all
three academies. He has been a sworn officer at the city, county and
federal levels. He has managed law enforcement operations for 20 years
up to and including Chief of Police and Police Commander for the largest
American community (75,000) outside the United States.
As well, he has been an adjunct professor at three well-known
universities and taught police operations and criminal justice
administration at each university. He has a Master of Science degree in
Administration of Criminal Justice and has also completed additional
post-graduate work at the University of Southern California and
Northwestern University in Illinois. He is qualified in federal court
as an expert in police procedures and operations.
